This unit will focus on the historical event that caused a ripple in the Deaf community, Deaf President Now. The unit includes three lessons, three projects, and a lot of fun! Lesson Two: Art/Music/PE - Seeing Deaf President Now from a different perspective
Overview
In this lesson you will review what we have learned about deaf culture in order to take on the identity/perspective of a deaf community member. You will then create a Glog that demonstrates your perspective, as that deaf community member, on Deaf President Now. The identity/perspective options that you can take on are: Deaf person, deaf person, hard-of-hearing person, teacher, sibling or parent of a deaf student at Gallaudet, interpreter, etc. If you have a different idea of a perspective you would like to take, please email me for approval: [email protected].
ObjectiveStudents will be able to create a Glog that demonstrates the cultural perspective of DPN by analyzing DPN from the cultural perspective of a deaf community member.

Part One: Discover your Perspective
As a member of the Deaf/ASL community you are expected to have an opinion on the happenings of Deaf President Now. Whether you are for or against the protest/demands, your opinion is strong and you want to join the heated debate.
First choose an identity from the Deaf/ASL community.

For this lesson you will create a Glog that complies artifacts demonstrating your cultural views and explanations as to how each artifact/cultural view contributes to your opinion of DPN.
Review this Glog I created showing examples of some Deaf culture artifacts you can use in your own Glogs and follow the provided links for resources to help you review the cultural views of the Deaf community.

Part Two: Create your Glog
Use the resources found on the above Glog, and any other resources you find, to create your own Glog representing your opinion (as a member of the Deaf community) on Deaf President Now. Include ten artifacts each with their own explanation. The explanation should include a description of the artifact's cultural representation and how that contributes to your opinion of Deaf President Now. Post your Glog on our class website along with a written description of the identity you decided to take on for this assignment and the opinion of Deaf President Now your Glog represents.
